The Greatest show on earth! - November 2006

Rehearsals are well underway for Harlequins Musical Drama Society’s production of the West End and Broadway smash hit musical Barnum. Phineas Taylor Barnum was the greatest showman on earth and presented such flamboyant promotions as Joice Heth, reputedly the oldest woman in the world. Americans flocked to see the memorable wonders he created; Barnum’s American Museum and Charlie Stratton as Tom Thumb the world’s smallest man - only 25 inches tall. He was gifted with an incredible knack of flim flam and humbug. Even now, one hundred and eighty years since Barnum’s birth, his zest for life created America’s most exciting years.

The showman of boundless imagination will be presented to you at the Key Theatre from 31st January 2007 until 3rd February 2007. Producer and Director of the show, Chris Wenden says; “This promises to be a wonderful show with a cascade of colour for the dark days of winter in the season when the bright lights of Christmas are gone and the Pantomimes are over. Together with a great storyline and some lovely songs, this will be a most enjoyable show for all ages.” Tickets are now available from the Key Theatre box office to the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!

Publicity Photo-Shoot hit the right note! - July 2006

The cast for the next Harlequins production "Barnum" went to Thursford in Norfolk to have the publicity photos taken.  The Thursford Collection is famous for it's big Carousel's and organs or Wurlitzer's that are played expertly by Robert Wolfe, who is recognised as being one of the world's leading interpreters of the theatre organ.  The photo shoot was a success and a good time was had by all. We wish to thank the staff at Thursford for their generosity in letting us use their facilities for this purpose.  Check out our Current Show page to see a selection of the photos that were taken.
