Sold out 2 months in advance - April 2007

Harlequins next production, following the success of Barnum, is going to be a nostalgic look back on the wonderful music from the 1940's.  "Goodnight Sweetheart" will be a family evening of songs, music, dance and comedy sketches with the theme of 1940's wartime Britain.  Harlequins will be performing this production on two Saturday nights in June at the Leeds Hall in Eye.  However, due to the popularity of the group, both shows have already sold out 2 months in advance! Harlequins are now looking at the possibility of extending this run and performing the show at alternative venues.  Watch this space for more information.

      Barnum receives 4* review - February 2007

Harlequins production of Barnum was reviewed by Peterborough Evening Telegraph's Duncan Hall and gave the production a 4* rating.  He commented that "It is also notoriously difficult to stage - but that didn't stop the group from providing a cavalcade of colour and circus atmosphere to really chase away the dullness of Peterborough in January pretty much from the opening scene." He also noted "David Broughton was perfectly cast as the central character, bringing a strong voice and lots of charisma to the demanding role" and "Ruth Markham brought a sense of authority to Barnum's wife Charity"

Duncan also mentioned about the wonderful scenery saying "The scenes were all played out on a well-designed set, allowing the action to flow without stops and starts.  Any scene changes were trumpeted by a little circus-style foolery, conducted by ringmaster Mark Cowdell, featuring the brilliantly-costumed and well-choreographed clowns and acrobats in the chorus."

Overall, the show was a complete success and we managed to attract over 1000 people in the audience over the 5 performances.
